Suggestion The Many Reasons To Remove Zyre Cove. by Blissterz

Hello Lokans. This is a detailed forums post about why Zyre Cove should be removed as an addition to Loka.

First of all I would like to start off with the main reason I think Zyre Cove should be removed. I'd like to think that general ganking areas have been dividing the community for a long time, First with nether docks turning yellow tag to make it easier for grinding materials like, pot materials and building materials, After this the community quickly found a new place to gank this being the End Dimension. The End was the standard ganking area for people until it was eventually removed because of the many flaws in the PvP experience. With this Zyre or "Gank Isle" was created.

Zyre was the newest addition to Loka with it being the first area to actually be created for Ganking purposes, The community ended up settling with Zyre leaving it as the common Ganking area. Zyre was very detailed and had multiple areas to Gank and drop into. Zyre ended up having new updates for fixing flaws and others being small quality of life updates. But even with all of the new updates coming to Zyre players were still left unsatisfied and wanted something even newer and fresher. This led to the addition of Zyre Cove.

Zyre Cove is a smaller version of Zyre with a dock for players to arrive in and a baron landscape where people do their 1v1's or teamfights. But with this new area the original Zyre was never removed and has been left untouched for quite a while as players mostly go to Zyre Cove.

This has led me up to my first argument which is that these two ganking areas has left the community
divided with people who like Zyre Cove better and people who like Zyre better. My solution to this would be to remove one Island and let one stay, In my unbiased opinion I think the Island that should stay should be Zyre, Zyre is alot more developed and polished than Zyre Cove is, To me Zyre Cove just feels like a rushed copy of the original Zyre and i see no reason to keep it.

Second of all I'd like to bring up my own opinion with Zyre Cove, I think the terrain just lacks and gets repetitive very fast. On the other hand Zyre (as i mentioned before) has lots of detailed and polished areas where I'd like to think the terrain is genuinely more unique and clean looking. I also feel like there is way more fun content you can use on Zyre for example Far sight. Far sight is a tool/powerup used to locate where your Hostiles are on Zyre. This makes it easier to locate people and find others to gank with your team or by yourself. Another addition to Zyre I think is interesting is The Storm. The whole point of The Storm is to deal corruption damage to single out certain areas where players should not enter. But if you heal yourself properly you could use it as a kiting mechanism to escape from your enemies. The Storm also rotates every half hour or 15 minutes (im not sure on which).

This message is from someone who still has yet to step foot on Zyre, so opinion auto voided.

Why not let Zyre have 8 of the biomes be Stormy, and the last area be like Zyre Cove. Every day when the server autoresets, the eye of the storm (aka no storm tile) swaps places with one random stormy tile.

So you still have the Zyre Cove experience, while also having the Zyre Experience. You can still go into the Storm, but unlike Cove it utilizes the better designed Island.

But again, Idk the ganking situation, and am unsure how this would be received in that very community.

Just saying end and nether were the same for a long time

I've stated this various places before but I'm happy to reiterate here. We always built Zyre (original) to be able to do more than its first inception of just being a big gank isle with storms (to limit combat space). As a result of Cove's popularity - which is of course very subjective - we intend to run scheduled PvP events on Zyre (think KOTH or Battle Royale).

We'll never make everybody happy of course, the best we can do is give people choices in how they can PvP around Loka. Further, Zyre still exists; people can still use it whenever they want. Forcing people between one or the other just seems to piss everyone off, so if you want to organize Big Original Zyre Ganks; make it so! The scheduled Zyre events will only run for limited periods of time. When they're not running, it will remain in its normal state.

Also a reminder that Cove was never meant to be the only map for small Zyre. Build team is just busy with other things at the moment. We'd like to have a daily-rotating map for "lil zyre".

You make a great point, but I honestly think it would be better if there was only 1 main ganking place as this just leaves 1 ganking place being entirely untouched + i see so many people say Zyre is better than cove but then they still go to Zyre Cove weird psychology. But daily rotating maps seem cool

Also fair to mention that Cove is smol; with further growth, players will naturally spill over into other gank areas. So having only one is not an idea that scales well.

Also we don't agree that one being "untouched" means it needs to removed. One could argue Balak is rarely used except in a few specific fights. That does not mean Balak is a failure in need of removing, it just means its use is situational. It could become extremely heavily used one month, and barely at all the following month, and that's okay.

And while im at it, I'd like to mention my 2nd point that Zyre Cove has a very plain landscape and is honestly just really flat, I think it could use some terraforming to make it more fun to play on. But again this is just a suggestion. I think the main thing Zyre Cove really misses out on is good terrain. Like in end for examples there would be random holes and just leveled terrain that I and many other players used to enjoy with End.

The volume of players who request "pure flat" for any and all pvp scenarios is overwhelming; hence why I called Cove etc very subjective. Can't win em all :|

stop adding continents to fix problems. players complain you think adding rivina and balak was the solution. players complain you add zyre. players complain you add cove. develop stuff loka already has.

the ridiculous amount of dev time things like rivina, balak, zyre, zyre cove took couldve been spent developing conquest, industries, the 3 main continents, aladra, end, nether, adding more content and functionality to them all.

Aladra has always looked the same and the redesign just moved a couple pathways. No time to design a new spawn or add a bank or anything like that but theres time to build things nobody wants.
