Hey everyone,
I want to suggest that we introduce a short land acknowledgement before every Conquest fight.
This wouldn’t be long or disruptive, just 10–15 seconds before we engage. The idea is that we pause briefly and acknowledge the tile we’re fighting on.
This isn’t a new concept in competitive environments. In real life, many NHL teams open games with a land acknowledgement recognizing the Indigenous peoples whose traditional territories the arena sits on. For example, games played at Calgary Flames home arena in Calgary often begin with an acknowledgement of the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 Nations. It’s brief, consistent, and sets a tone of respect before the game begins.
We could adopt something similar for Conquest, not to slow momentum, but to establish culture. Something that recognizes the tile we’re fighting on, the history behind towns that stood there before (especially ruins), and the competitive space we all share. A simple, standardized line said in chat before we engage would be enough.
Curious to hear your guys' thoughts.
