Minecraft Version 1.3

With regards to a replacement for string i feel either a feather or stick are the best options. Bones being used for wolves the other 2 have no direct use.

In light of remembering that bones are used for wolves, I think I vote Feathers now, might be best to keep sticks free for the future

I'm not exactly how to do it on mac, but on windows you find your .minecraft folder, usually in user/appdata/.minecraft/bin and then replace the existing minecraft.jar with this one you downloaded. You might want to see a tutorial on google on how to do it with mac.

I use mac too. In case u dont know how, finder>go>go to folder>type in ~/library/application support>go>minecraft>bin>replace your current minecraft.jar with the one line linked you. Hope this helps.
 
I think both Joc and Scoot are okay now, but someone might want to make a thread for anyone else with this problem.
 
Currency

I agree, Emeralds sound like a nice idea for currency.

Hard mode

With the new creeper difficulty I agree that we should turn back to normal. The sound of being one hitted in iron armor just doesn't sound very fun, and down to three hearts in diamond armor is just ridiculous.

Books

Since this is supposed to be a semi-vanilla survival server i'd go with Vanilla in every place that I could.

Ender Chests

Ender chests, being that they are personal storage I kind of go two ways on. One, they kind of destroy the purpose of raids as you can store everything personal that you have in them. Two goes into the favor of those being raided, it is a vault that cannot be stolen from.

Tripwire

I find sticks to be the best idea as they are craftable and easy to acquire.

Town portals can take you *from* spawn but not to spawn. You also still spawn next to the portal.

Through personal experience I have determined that NPC trading is OP. You can get full sets of diamond armor for just a few diamonds by taking emeralds from the bank. I'd suggest raising the price of emeralds to around 15 providing they also add 15 coins to generators.
 
Yes the point is the currency is valued at one, im sure we can find a way to nerf the villagers. I will also work on updating the cost of some of the ores as it is a bit dated.
 
No, I meant that 1 emerald would = 15 coins.

As it is 1 emerald = 1 coin.
17 coins/emeralds = 1 diamond chest piece which = 8 diamonds
8 diamonds = 200 coins
200 coins =/= 17 coins.

You increase the amount needed to withdraw emeralds, but also increase their value in a generator so it nerfs NPC trading. The rest of the values would remain the same and it's pretty difficult to get emeralds any other ways. The most easily exploited would be trading NPCs paper but I could go strip mining and make more money.
 
I understand what you are saying but the emerald is the coin so 1 emerald will always be 1 coin. One of the factors when original deciding on the currency values was that its relative value is low so you can use it to trade for cheaper goods with other players such as food.
 
It's a pretty huge problem if you can find a noc who trades 17 emeralds for a diamond chest plate - that's like one diamond with some change. There must be a way to nerf noc trading but if not zors suggestion sounds quite good. Like he said, people trade in diamonds and iron, not in coins anyway.
 
Then there is no point in the currency system, im sure now emeralds are in the game people will gradually adjust and get used to trading them.

EDIT: Nevermind, that did absolutely nothing. The trades remain the same.

That's better Asy, still some room for exploiting but much better.
