Suggestion Nerf to Totems of Undying

I am writing this suggestion in regards to the current unbalanced nature of Totems of Undying on Loka, and potential solutions to the issue. Both myself and a large portion of the community seem to think that totems are too overpowered in their current form. With their recent inflation on the market, many (usually already talented) players have begun bringing large quantities of totems to fights, which is causing them to become a lot harder to kill than they already would be. For the average player, or those who do not have totems, it makes fighting feel unfair, unfun and it is downright demotivating to fight againt certain players that you know will just use the safety net of being able to spam totems and not die. Totems, in my opinion, are killing what makes PvP on Loka fun- high intensity, high risk, and balanced, but with totems, that is genuinely being threated and there is 0 downside to having a totem in a fight.

In terms of nerfing totems, there are a number of procedures that could be taken to make them more balanced in PvP:

A) Adding a cooldown to usage of Totems of Undying. Right now people are able to spam as many totems as possible, so effectively being almost invincible. The cooldown, in my opinion, should be no less than 10m.

B) Making totems a lot rarer to obtain. Right now they are far too easy to get and people have a lot of them, with their prices being incredibly cheap. This once again creates the issue of them being spammed out during fights and making it extremely hard to kill someone.

C) Making totems punish the user upon use. This could be done in a variety of ways, for example a long duration of irreversable debuffs or losing a heart per usage for the rest of the fight.

D) Removing totems altogether. I personally believe this is too far but it is certainly an option.

I personally believe making them rarer + a long cooldown between uses would be optimal for balancing totems. I am also open to others' thoughts in the replies!

-1 lowk small pearl cooldown when totem pops could work or weakness/slowness for 30seconds when you pop
I just bought like 20 totems from market so dont nerf or remove plz im broke

one totem per fight also works great
 
not enough imo, no one really pops more than 1 a fight anyway
Well ive seen it happen a couple of times, and even if you dont pop the second one u still have the comfort of having it just in case. Even having the totem when fighting is a benefit cuz ppl target u less, knowing u wont die
I agree it might not be enough, but also if we go too crazy the totems will become trash

Maybe lets add glowing after popping? In that case when someone pops in a fight everyone can switch their focus to them and it will be easy to focus down a glowing player
 
I can agree honestly I just think something has to be done sooner rather than later if they even bother to do it
 
+1 caring about a number on a website get a grip do what 36s said probably the best fix for totems ruining conquest gameplay
 
+ 1 i think the best course of action would just be removing the item entirely or atleast disabling it in conquest (though i would prefer disabling it entirely like golden apples), i feel like totems are fundamentally against the spirit of loka pvp and they undo alot of the inherent risk that should be present when you are pvping on loka and the only reason this did not become apparent before is because they were not very easy to obtain.

the big problem (as mentioned in the post) isnt even that totems prevent death but that they discourage fighting the totem user in a conquest fight since alot of people will just reason that its a better use of time to focus on fighting other players without one. i know it would probably suck for anybody who has invested into alot of totems or something (although players have always been at the mercy of the server and any possible nerfs to items they choose to invest in so its not even that crazy of a concept IMO), but i think this would be the best course of action as i cant imagine any other way that would immediately undo their usage (since just making the item rarer wouldnt address the issue of already existing totem supply, and if anything it would exacerbate the issue in a way in the short term since totems become this item only a select class of players have access to on the server), i think the item should just be removed / disabled for the Greater Good™️
