I believe that shields at the moment are still OP and generally make the conquest experience less fun for most people. Even with the buffed shield disable nerf it doesn't really change much especially with the loka damage, if you pull out an axe to disable an experienced shield player simply crits you in the face and with Loka damage half of your health is gone. Secondly even if you do manage to disable their shield a lot of them simply turn around and run until their shield is back or just pearl away.
What I am proposing is a nerf to shields so that when you carry a shield in your offhand you have slowness 1. One of the main issues with shields is that it's essential to get charges I think this nerf would make it less viable to use a shield in actual conquest but still allow for people to play objective and get charges.
I really think that most people can agree that shields just make conquest less fun and I hope this starts a conversation about shields thanks for reading.

I agree with hyper; remove shields so people stop complaining. I hate hearing people complain especially about something like shields where if you were to use brain cells and had a slight change in playstyle, a player that you're able to beat without a shield shouldn't beat you with a shield.

why do people say these things without elaborating though? if its such a stupid issue that you agree with shields being fully removed just so people stop complaining then just tell people
how if you were to use brain cells and had a slight change in playstyle
they would be able to counter shields so they stop complaining.

Because people get fed up of explaining themselves 100 times, hyper has done it 123 times (I counteD), it's stupid.
 
I mean a meta is a meta, it's hard to get them right and as said just flat out removing shields isn't an option, also it's pretty easy to point out that using shields the way they're intended isn't broken and can be countered pretty well.

The problem I see is the cheesy combo is digging holes + shields?

-1 Digging holes and having a shield on you in a 1x1 is completely balanmced

Not everyone throws potions well when they first start the game. But in the finally, they realize they have to throw the potions better to be a good player. Maybe you should just hone your axe skills.
 
In my humble opinion, shields should be reworked and changed so that they are not the meta but instead a support/utility. Loka's conquest is all about fast pace due to the 33% damage boost, however, shields have the problem of blocking 100% of the damage coming at them. This is in itself flawed as it slows down the pace of conquest and makes it more difficult for opponents/allies to die. Raising the shield cooldown is redundant and I don't know why it's even being considered. If a player's shield is disabled with an axe they can still attack you while you have to wait to swap back to your sword. The way to fix it in my opinion is to either:

A) Only allow players to hold up their shield for a short amount of time (2-3 seconds) and then put it on cooldown
B) Make it so that a playing holding up a shield only blocks 25%-50% of the damage incoming

In my eyes, the role of shields in conquest should be only to get charges however this isn't a realistic change that the staff could implement because it's a vanilla mechanic therefore the changes I listed above are more viable. Shields will still be a problem even with these changes, but it's a start.
 
I don’t think shields should be removed entirely as it is a vanilla mechanic, however I do agree it needs to be heavily nerfed. As squid said, raising the shield cooldown is redundant. I agree with option A & B wherein they’re only allowed to hold it for 2-3 seconds, and/or the shield only reduces 50% of the damage taken, not 100%. If things like crystals had been nerfed pretty heavily (it’s also a vanilla mechanic), I don’t see why shields can’t follow the same case.

Frankly, at the current rate conquest really isn’t fun anymore. I used to enjoy waking up for fights but now it just feels like a waste of time.
 
-1 carrying a shield is grief, its so easy to bring an axe and disable it. i dont even bring one anymore bc no one is notably even decent with one. literal debuff to hold a shield.

yea it is the biggest debuff literally so hard to bring a shield and use it so hard .
