The Territories Thread

Hehe, I wish I'd mentioned the idea sooner. Now it doesn't seem quite so brilliant on my part, lol. One thing is for sure, AV was the only one I really loved. This concept would be incredible to see on Loka.

Is there a way to put these in remote locations near spawn and make them purely aesthetic? Then there could either be BG's to vie for control of the number you control in your favor or perhaps there could be one iconic building next to each town's border that players must take before they can use any method to invade a town for pvp or raid.
 
The concept of some sort of when-necessary point on the map that in some way acts as a Battleground when enough people are near it could be cool. People could feasibly use their Beacons (intended to be usable anywhere in the world) and set them up near these contestable points and use it to reinforce as needed, or for as much money they're willing to spend to use them to reinforce.

It's a neat idea, might revisit this idea after the core of Territories are implemented and running.
 
Sounds pretty interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing how it is all implemented.

Now is this supposed to be an alternative to how raids are executed now or will it just be supplementary? (i.e., raiders still use traditional methods but these points would just give them added benefits) OR would this make it necessary for raiders to control a point in order to raid.
 
Raiding is, for now, separate and will stay the way it is. This is an additional, unrelated conflict system.
 
Those are screens from the test server. A good majority of work on the Territory Generators themselves is done.
 
Outstanding. Have we figured out the method of attacking the territory gens? i.e., enderbombs or other methods?
 
Wanted to say thanks to all who helped with the Territories Beta yesterday. Despite being silly and raucous, in the end, it did expose quite a few bugs (some known, some unknown) and certainly needed to happen. We'll probably do a couple more tests in the coming days/week as the bugs are fixed and the rest of the features are added.

I know many of you took screenshots of the event, and you're welcome to post them here if you want to, if nothing else than to show how much crap can explode during a test. As always, keep your eyes peeled for updates about Territories!
 
Awesome programming. Even while it was buggy, it was awesome, to play in this teritorry fights. This will be awesome. Thanks Crypt, for all the work You put in the server.

Territories Launch Tomorrow - September 1st @ 2pm CST (GMT-6)
  • Upon the launch, all towns over level 6 will receive 500 Territory Points.
  • Territory Strength will most likely not be implemented tomorrow because....
  • There will be bugs! Hopefully not that many, but this is a huge launch and we're sure to see some issues. Because of how volatile the situation could become, we'll probably wait a day or two before turning on strength calculations.

Will we have the map of the world available? and what about highscores for what town has most TP?
 
The world map will release sometime this week, but probably not tomorrow either.

Territory Points and Territory Strength are different. Territory Points are the currency through which you create Territory Buildings. Territory Strength is the number that goes up nightly depending on how many Territory Generators you have online.

The world map page will probably also indicate Territory Strength as well somewhere on it.
 
Couple things...

First of all you really need to write some instructions or post pictures for those of us who did not participate in the beta testing. Maybe I'm just too tired but I could not figure out what the power source was.

One of my golems spawned about 16 blocks away and was quite useless for defense and the other one kept spawning in a tree and suffocating to death. Needless to say they won't be awarded any medals of honor.

Also, timers for inhibitors are stuck at 120 minutes for both the attackers and defenders, though it still activates at the proper time.
