Suggestion Tournament bribing

I think that going forwards people shouldn’t be able to persuade people or bribe people to vote for their tournament. It turns the voting into a pay to win session. Where in my opinion it should be the nicest looking town/arena.

It demotivates the town which builds really nice looking tournaments just to lose to towns who pay people to vote for them all.

I don’t know how this can be prevented but could it possibly be looked into. So the rich don’t get richer and other towns have an opportunity.

Personally, I would implement the idea of whoever can pay the most should host while making it so you can only host once per year. Also I just want to say the main people that are complaining are the ones that lost the bid. Furthermore, it’s not a money grab I want to host more tournaments in the future because I enjoy the server at this point it’s not about the money anymore.

The person who can pay the most? that would lead to tournaments that look like urs....

In other words youre greedy you dont care about the other players tournaments builds and you just want to win for yourself i guess you were chosen as one of the seven deadly sins

I mean in both systems it’s possible for me to win once per year so it doesn’t change much also like I said it’s a shard sink.

What shard sink? U gonna pay 1 million to host and u will make 3 million from the tourney.
Make it so whoever bids doesn’t get their money back if they lose also the tournament wouldn’t go for 1m I’m guessing it would go for more.

Honestly good idea long as it starts after the November tournament so everyone still has a chance.
nah it would make more sense for it to have been in effect since the beginning of this year (2026). If this 2 year rule takes effect starting in november we all know the first tournament of 2027: Asgard VI. Also its not hard to predict tournaments after asgard u can look this year tournaments (using the new build may be considered)

2 years cooldown for tourny i think its work
2 years is good on paper but it really just makes people getting good builds rarer if anything cause why would i build a masterpiece that can only be seen in 2027 then in 2029 with 8 towns being unable to be voted for theyd just pick the next town in there alliance/group like you tried with the polish faction.

im just asking you this: if you were to rank these six towns for the build, would you list them from highest score to lowest?

i usually vote based off tournament build anyway ive consistently said how best build should be voted to people i talk too however most people dont care about what a build looks like and what will happen since the alliance rule is gone, is an alliance will lets say vote asgard then when thats done theyll vote ionia because even if the admins ban paying for votes which would require heavy investigation and hunches that cant be proven easily alliances will just vote for there friends so they get paid rather than a random town or alliance they dont like

I've seen some very strange reasoning within this thread.

As others have already pointed out, bribing people to vote isn't really a particularly reliable tactic. Every time I've seen it employed, someone seems to spend a significant amount of resources without any guarantee they'll actually win. Better yet, there's nothing stopping the people taking the bribe from simply voting for somebody else anyway.

More importantly, I think people are losing sight of what the voting system actually is. The point is that the community gets to choose who hosts the tournament. It isn't an award for the best build, the most active town, or the group deemed most capable of running a tournament. If those were supposed to be the deciding criteria, there would be very little reason to hold a community vote in the first place. Staff could simply assess each application against a set of criteria and select the "best" candidate.

People vote for towns for all sorts of reasons. They might like the build, want to see a particular town host, be friends with the people involved, belong to the same alliance, like their tournament concept, have been persuaded to vote for them, or simply prefer them over the alternatives. That's an inevitable consequence of asking the community to decide.

I also don't see how restricting voting to a select group of people improves this. If anything, that seems considerably more vulnerable to bias. Instead of having those biases spread across the wider community, you're concentrating the entire decision in the hands of a small number of individuals and then trusting them to decide what constitutes the "best" tournament.

You can absolutely argue that community voting is messy, because it is. Popularity, alliances, friendships and campaigning are always going to influence the result. But those aren't flaws you can remove while still pretending the system is a community vote. They're consequences of having one.

From my perspective, the current system remains the most transparent and realistic option despite its flaws. Everyone gets the same vote, everyone can see the candidates, and ultimately the town that convinces the most members of the community to vote for it wins.

If the community genuinely wants tournament hosts to be selected primarily on build quality or some other objective criteria, then that's a different system entirely, and it should be discussed as such rather than trying to engineer a community vote until it produces the "correct" result.
