Suggestion Cancel Crystals

Hello Loka Minecraft.

During a fight today I was killed multiple times by crystals in a bunch of cheesy ways which I haven't died to before and made me rethink the idea of avoid the crystal player (as so many people were carrying crystals). I think this is a damaging meta to Loka in so many ways as it is:
a. Spammy
b. Lacking Skill (Specifically due to how crystals work on Loka)
c. Hard to understand for new players (Due to Loka's crystals being so different from Vanilla)
d. Overpowered due to the high density of players in a confined space
e. Overall unfun. Loka is a PvP server where there is a 33% damage buff in comparison to Vanilla. Even with that you don't stand a chance versus a Crystal player with a sword.

I believe it is time to make Crystal PvP take skill on Loka. I am suggesting a damage nerf to crystals as they are now, also reverting crystals to its Vanilla mechanic of the Y level impacting damage inflicted. I also think it is time to nerf turtle pots as they are extremely overpowered right now and I witnessed 10 people attempting to crit out a crystal player that was turtle potted, and stuck in a cobweb and they couldn't kill him. Which is nuts.

I think this is long overdue. Cancel Crystals.

Thought I'd write up an actual response to this

You can simply avoid it, it's not hard.
You can pearl, they can not (assuming they are turtle mastered and aren't suiciding you)
They are limited to only using this strategy far away from the objective (arguably the area both sides of the team should be fighting)
So my consensus is the people being punished and who are more than likely the ones annoyed by this are the lesser intelligent kill chasing people I scream at in VCs during fights :)

Fight on objective
fight with your team
avoid man with obsidian
fight on objective so he cant even use obsidians
life is good.

Don't necessarily disagree on some of the points you've made, yet I feel the problem with crystals is a different one than what you're presenting.

They aren't some unavoidable insta-kill if you're aware of your surroundings, but at the same time they shouldn't be able to lock down an entire chunk of battlezone with as little effort and risk involved as they do right now.

IF anything, instead of a flat-out nerf of crystals I'd propose that they do as much damage to someone who is Turtle Mastered as they would to someone who isn't, because if they aren't taking any substantial damage from any other source anyways, at least make them have to play around their own weapon with skill and care. This would let them keep their penta-potential if they play well but prevents mindless bombing without killing themselves.

Everything else about crystals on Loka is aight and makes for a neat role in fights.

and by god if you suggest y level crystals with some of the terrain loka tiles have you will regret it

This is not smart. The entire reason we changed them was because the crystaler took 0 damage from their own crystals with the vanilla mechanic. This would just act as a buff to crystals.

Aspects that are potentially an issue is the number of players using crystals. For example if there are 10 people per side using them it can become a problem due to the size of the battle zone. Likewise, their interaction with turtle pots and spamming them is also valid criticism.

I explained this to him but his argument was atleast it would take some "skill" !:) he is just a tad bit mad he died twice...

The fact that you just have to avoid a player is not a counter. It is a means of survival. A counter is a way to kill them. Which is quite impossible where we are currently.

Not at all? If a player is limited to that spot now due to not being able to pearl or run towards you, and also can't wait for there pot to ware off and relocate to your new position ( THE OBJECTIVE!!! ) they are now rendered useless, they can not get kills using there chosen meta, nor can they help objective wise using said meta. Therefore rendering said player with crystal inventory useless. They must now return to fighting normally or go looking for another low iq ape player to kill

I stand by the fact that a person who literally can't move isn't a problem. This is only a problem when you are super horny to kill said person; a person who doesn't need to die as if simply avoided they do not cause a threat.

Communication in conquest could easily avoid ALL crystal deaths.
