But no storage.

Storage is fine if you can only withdraw in emeralds.

No, that is one of the main points in getting rid of it. We have Ender Chests. If you can't fit all your wealth in there then you deserve to be raided.

Pretty raider-favouring attitude there, but he does perhaps without realizing make a fair point there.

Since there will be no storage there is a higher risk of being stolen from while using the bank. While that is currently illegal, only a Guardian or Overseer can do anything about it. That is why I suggest blocks. It will save several minutes for larger transactions.

Or we could just add a piston that comes up behind you when you get in the bank, prevent people from coming in with you.

You can still reach the chest pretty easily. The crafting table is also outside and blocking the door gives people the chance to afk inside and block access.

How bout instead of the bank converting the ores and sticking the emeralds in the chest, it just uses /give and spawns the emeralds in your inventory?

Pretty sure it's just the xyz coords of the pressure plate, the chest, and all of the buttons.

1.4, command blocks.
Pretty sure we could utilise/edit them to suit our needs.

The problem with command blocks is that

1) It activates for any and all redstone currents
2) You can select a specific player, the player closest to the block, all local players, or all global players. In our case #2 would be best but the user of the bank may not always be the closest player to the block.

I'm sure we could adjust the bank shapes to make it so it works like that.
