When I was watching a episode of Yoglabs, by the Yogscast, Lewis show off the new skin features, my favourite part of 1.8. Using a skin design app, you can make your skin asymetrical and each limb has a jacket, or hat, which is super cool. He also showed that in the snapshot that in your ingame options you can take of you cape, hat, and limd/body jackets.

I'll bet andre wishes he could've had that for his resurrection.

The skin changes will only appear in the snapshots+. If he wanted a super cool app skin, we wouldn't see it in the current 1.7 map.

Re: Minecraft 1.8 Features/Discussion [14w10a]

Nothing new for survival since 14w07a, but here's some text from today's update.

Don’t worry, we have some cool survival plans soon!

This snapshot also has the (hopefully-)final step towards supporting name changes in Minecraft. All server files that are intended to refer to players will be automatically changed to go by UUIDs, and you do not need to do anything. However, this does mean that any third party tool will not work on these files, and will need to be updated to work with them.

Though names changes are technically supported in this snapshot, they will not be available until after 1.8 releases when we will be confident that the majority of active servers have updated to support UUIDs. We will be releasing a Minecraft 1.7.6 version soon to backport these UUID changes for normal servers.

I expected 1.8 to be released this month, but it's sounding like they have another round of updates coming so it's looking more like an April release.

Re: Minecraft 1.8 Features/Discussion [14w10a]

Just watched the minecraft weekly news, 1.8 is best guessed to be coming out in May and 1.7.6 is coming out later this month. It's also rumor that there are going to be more powerful tools and more fishing rewards.

Re: Minecraft 1.8 Features/Discussion [14w11a]

14w11a

Mobs

  • Added Endermite.
  • Appearance is similar silverfish, except they are purple and emit ender particles.
  • Endermen are hostile towards them.
  • Will sometimes spawn in place of an Enderman teleporting away.
  • Will despawn after 2 minutes.
  • Will spawn when an ender pearl lands.

Minecarts

  • Changed minecart physics
  • Minecarts now go faster and farther
  • Improved collision and position handling
  • Minecarts can derail at corners if going too fast, as well as refuse to go uphill

Minecart with Furnace

  • They now give a much greater boost to other mine carts

Mob AI

  • Mobs no longer attack a player in creative mode
  • Silverfish will stop occasionally before moving again (similarly to most mobs)
  • Slimes seem to jump a bit more randomly
  • Creepers now run away from other creepers that are about to explode

F3 debug screen

  • On the right hand side, a display shows up if you are looking at a block, giving various pieces of information and NBT data about it.
  • Looking at a door and redstone shows you the state of the block
  • Door: which way it is facing, if it is open, which half you are looking at, if it is powered, and what side the hinge is

Endermites seem rather useless, but hopefully they will be given a drop or something later. There will not be another snapshot for a couple weeks.

So they are just something to annoy players.

Minecraft Wiki said:
If Endermites are named, they can be used to create Enderman farms, for Endermen will try to hunt and kill Endermites. Endermen can be lured to fall off of a ledge while chasing Endermites to create a simple farm. These Enderman farms are extremely resource-friendly, compared to Enderman farm designs created prior to 14w11a, which usually require a lot of pistons, redstone and iron.

Naming aggro mobs doesn't function normally on this server. My named silverfish despawned after only a couple minutes.

Another bug fix and optimization snapshot. Here's a screenshot of the very much in development underwater content:

There will probably be a snapshot today (don't hold me to that) but I have a few pieces of information unrelated to it.

  1. Bunnies are being added. Not rabbits. Bunnies.
  2. There will be a new underwater hostile mob
  3. A new underwater block called Prismarine is being added with variants which we're not allowed to see.

Also, this was a response to a tweet a few weeks ago regarding 1.8 release date:

"Not in the next couple of months, most likely. We're not rushing this update. Sorry!"
