How to Prevent Stream Sniping

I see this as a business opportunity. For a relatively low price, good pvpers or a group of such could act as bodyguards to the streamer, with a full refund if the streamer is killed by a player.

Now we're talking. An entire, informal minigame of "Protect the Asset" could become one of Loka's hottest new attractions.

Issue with the whole bodyguard thing is, as mentioned before, scheduled are really rough to align. One of the main benefits of streams is bring able to do them quickly and sporadically. Hiring bodyguards and assuming they'll be online for streams is incredibly hit or miss.

Realistically on a server like Loka unless these spontaneous streams happen when less people are online you can't expect to randomly run a stream and be prepared. Whatever changed would be implemented you would still need that time beforehand for preparation and to be ready to stream. Spontaneous streams where your survival rate is higher are incredibly unlikely unless streamers are given a buff big enough to just be able to hop in and explore which as mentioned before is something hugely unfair and not the right way to do things

Cryptite is on the same thought process as me. Yes planning beforehand to schedule a bodyguard can be very cumbersome but if we make a good enough incentive for players to protect the streamer or "asset" then you don't have to plan a bodyguard! The incentive would encourage players already on the server to come to the streamer's aid. Honestly, I believe this would create a really fun and natural PvP feature to Loka where it feels like a PvE feature since you are defending something.

Pretty sure Crypt was kidding, but huh... sort of like an escort mission, eh?

If you guys really wanted it to seem as if it was a part of the game why not consider making the reward content which would be more streamable??

  • Media ranked folks could start a timer which partially increases loot bundles, unique mob drops and possible mob spawns.
  • If the person who started the timer was killed by another the timer would be stopped for that tile making it counter productive resource wise to stream snipe.
  • People who kill players in ruins could have debuffs applied which would make it easier to punish them in world PVP.
These are all just some broad suggestions which I don't believe have been discussed prior; please feel free to discuss :)

IMO this should start out as an entirely player-run feature. If it becomes A Thing, then we could evaluate "featurizing it", but doing so brings up all kinds of new issues. That said, all for brainstorming; but yeah I was pretty serious about the thought :D

What do you mean by it being a "player-run feature"?

I can't really imagine that becoming a thing right now. Server is closely knit, there is very little you could offer people to even make it worth the time as how readily available most resources are

Yeah, that's exactly the problem, there isn't going to be a great incentive if the players run this. Plus planning a bodyguard is already part of the problem. I realize that this does take development time to test a feature like this but the features koi mentioned are pretty much impossible to have players do themselves.

Um, that’s kinda wrong. For example, not everyone is lucky enough to subscribe to Loka or buy Orbs... https://www.lokamc.com/store
