Horses
- Added horses
- Spawn in plains biomes
- Can be fed wheat to make them calmer and easier to tame
- Tamed by hopping onto their back and not getting thrown off
- Can only be controlled once a horse saddle is equipped
- Horses can wear horse armor
- Donkey and mule breeds are available which cannot wear armor, but can carry chests
- Each horse has different stats such as health, speed, and jumping
- Horses can be bred with golden apples which passes on the parent's traits
- Potions seem to affect horses (Invisible players on invisible horses?)
- Textures for zombie and skeleton horses can be hacked in, but cannot be ridden
- Horses can be fed various foods to heal them and speed growth from foal to adult
Blocks
Hay Bale
- Added Hay Bales
- Crafted with 9 wheat
- Can be oriented different ways like logs
- Completely heals a horse if fed one hay block
- Cannot be crafted back to wheat
Carpet
- Added Carpet
- Crafted with two blocks of wool
- Same texture as wool
- 1/16th of a block
- Players walk through it similar to snow
- Can be moved by pistons
- Can be placed on most blocks, even if it causes them to float in mid-air
- Mobs will spawn on carpet
Hardened Clay
- Added Hardened Clay
- Crafted by cooking a clay block
- Has a TNT resistance about equal to stone
Stained Clay
- Added Stained Clay
- Crafted by placing eight hardened clay blocks around a dye
- Looks similar to dyed wool blocks
Coal Block
- Added Coal Blocks
- Crafted with 9 coal (not charcoal)
- Used as fuel to cook up to 80 items
Lapis Block
- Changed the texture of Lapis Lazuli blocks
- Slightly darker and more pale than the current texture
Items
Horse Armor
- Added Horse Armor
- Comes in iron, gold, and diamond
- Currently cannot be enchanted
- If an invisibility potion is used on a horse wearing armor, the armor will be invisible as well
- Can be found in mineshafts, dungeons, strongholds, nether fortresses, and village blacksmiths
- Does not have durability and is dropped on death
Lead
- Added Leads (leashes)
- Crafted with string and slime balls
- Can be attached to passive animals (including horses) to assist in directing their movement
- Can be tied to fence posts to keep animals in place
- Mobs such as squids will still despawn while leashed unless named
- Unless tied to a fence, leashes will break if there are 10 or more blocks between the player and mob
- Leashed mobs can be suspended in the air
Name Tag
- Added Name Tags
- Only found in dungeons
- Named using an anvil then attached to mobs
- Mobs with names do not despawn, including hostile mobs
- Villagers and the Ender Dragon cannot be named
- Name Tags are destroyed upon use
Charcoal
- Changed the texture of charcoal
Golden Apple
- Added Absorption I to both Golden Apples
- Absorption gives you two golden hearts per level which will take damage before your normal hearts
- If depleted, the golden hearts will regenerate every 30 seconds
- Lasts 2 minutes for both Golden Apples
- Level I apples now require 8 gold ingots, compared to the previous 8 gold nuggets
Redstone
Comparators
- Redstone comparators will now output a redstone signal when placed against a cauldron full of water
- Comparators will now output a redstone signal when placed against an End Portal frame, the signal strength depending on the number of eyes placed.
Game Mechanics
- Respiration enchantments now improve visibility underwater (significantly better than Optifine)
- Nether fortresses now spawn with chests similar to abandoned mineshafts
- Deserts now spawn with little to no water sources
- When zombies take damage they have a small chance to spawn other zombies
- Zombies can see you from much farther away than before
- Zombies wearing helmets in the sunlight will slowly damage and destroy the helmet then burn to death
- Texture packs must be converted to resource packs which can edit both blocks and sound
- Items thrown into the End Portal in the End will appear at spawn
- Natural health regeneration via full hunger bar will now slowly drain saturation and hunger
- Glistering melons now require 8 gold nuggets to craft
- Health potions are 30% less effective than in previous versions and Regeneration is 50% less effective.
- Mobs will now become increasingly difficult if a player remains in one area
- Spiders can now spawn with potion effects applied to them
