Fruit Info: As our next fruit of the day we have the Chinese Quince. I’m sure many of you can guess that this fruit is in fact a native of China. Specifically, this fruit is a native of the southern and eastern regions of the country. It is a hard, astringent fruit that is used as food and in traditional medicine.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the Shipova. This fruit is a combination of the European pear and the common whitebeam. This fruit is edible and has a sweet yellow flesh that supposedly bastes similar to a Nashi pear.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have one of the most disgusting looking fruits I have ever seen. This fruit is known as the osoberry, or sometimes as the Indian plum. It is a native of the pacific coast and some ranges of mountains in North America.

Fruit Info: For our fruit of the day today we have the wild crab apple, also known as the squaw apple. This fruit is the only species within its genus. It is native to Utah, Idaho, California, New Mexico, Colorado, and and Oregon.

June 16th, Day 1316: Heteromeles arbutifolia

Fruit Info: Commonly known as the Toyon, this fruit is a native of California and a part of Mexico. This fruit is the only one in its genus, making it a monotypic genus. It can also be called the Christmas berry or the California holly. Interestingly, indigenous people have used this fruit as a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease, and some research indicates in May have compounds useful for treating the disease.

Fruit Info: Here we have the fruit of the marsh cinquefoil. This fruit can be found throughout cool temperate regions of Europe, Asia, and North America. It is most commonly found on lake shores, marshy riversides, and stream margins. This fruit really isn’t good for much other than holding seeds while they develop.

Fruit Info: Today we have a fruit commonly referred to as the Bristol whitebeam. This fruit is native to Great Britain and only grows wild in a couple areas of Bristol. As of 2016 there was thought to exist only 300 of the fruit that grows it, but it’s. Umbers seem to be increasing.

Fruit Info: Here for our next fruit of the day we have the Devon Whitebeam. This fruit has known many different names over the years but that is its most commonly accepted current name, originating in 1907. It is a native of the British isles and grows on the areas of Devon, Cornwall and Somerset.
