March 12th, Day 1583: Sarcotoechia serrata

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have a native of eastern Queensland in Australia and a native of New Guinea. According to the Wikipedia article about its genus “molecular phylogenetic studies challenge the limits of the genus” with no explanation or context. That’s it that’s all I got on it.

March 13th, Day 1584: Dipteronia shinensis

Fruit Info: Today for our next fruit of the day will be looking at this lovely species endemic to the mainland regions of China. These fruits have been allowed to mostly use a wing like structure on the seeds. Otherwise there’s not much to say about it.

Fruit Info: Here we have our next fruit of the day in the series. It is a close relative of yesterday’s fruit except that it is a native of North America’s mountains and Asia as well.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have a member of the genus Synima. These fruits grow on trees in tropical rainforests, specifically in northeastern Queensland and New Guinea. It is one of three species in its genus but unfortunately the others won’t be covered in this thread (at least for now).

March 16th, Day 1587: Hypelate trifoliata

Fruit Info: This next fruit of the day is the fruit of the white ironwood. The plant that grows it is also known as the inkwood. It is a native to the southernmost regions of Florida and to the Caribbean. It is in a monotypic genus so it is the only species in it.

March 17th, Day 1588: Castanospora alphandii

Fruit Info: Our next fruit of the day also represents a monotypic genus. This one goes by the commonly name of the brown tamarind. It is naturally occurring from the northern regions of New South Wales through to the far north of Queensland in the rainforests of eastern Australia. There is no info on whether or not this fruit is edible for humans.

Fruit Info: Here for our next fruit of the day we have the one member of this genus that we will be covering for now. It can be found in a variety of countries across South America. It is named after a Spanish politician and writer.

Fruit Info: For our next fruit of the day in this series we have the new one. This one goes by the link tamarind or by the foam bark. It is native to Australia and New Guinea.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the mountain tamarind, which is a species of fruit that is a member of the lychee family. It is also a native of Australia. These fruits grow to be about 20mm in diameter.

Fruit Info: Here we have our next fruit of the day, which is the brush teak. This fruit grows on a tree native to the rainforests of eastern Australia. Its native range spans from New South Wales up to Queensland. It usually grows in the drier sections of the rainforests.

Fruit Info: Sarcopteryx montana is the scientific name of our newest fruit of the day and it is a native of, that’s right you guessed it, northeastern Queensland in Australia. The Montana part actually comes from the Latin word for mountain. It’s also native to the rainforests of that region.

Fruit Info: For our fruit of the day today we have the horse chestnut. This fruit is a native of the Balkans and of Turkey. While the plant that grows this fruit develops around 50 flowers on each panicle, it only grows around 5 fruits on each one.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have what appears to be a fruit. And it is in fact fulfilling the role of a fruit. Wow such fruit.

Fruit Info: Well.we did it. With today’s fruit we found a fruit that is even more of a fruit than yesterday’s fruit. This fruit fruits better than any fruit has ever fruit before. A work of art tbh.
