October 18th, Day 156: Bell Pepper

Fruit Info: A lovely variety of fruit, the bell pepper is a great example of a little spice. Traditionally it is considered one of the sweeter varieties of pepper, perfect if you don't like spicy food but really want a pepper for some reason. They're also very colorful, coming in red, green, yellow, orange, brown, red, white and even more varieties.

Fruit Tier: B More colorful than I would have initially thought.

October 19th, Day 157: Habanero-type Pepper

Fruit Info: Capsicum Chinense, otherwise known as the Habanero-type pepper. These species of pepper is native to the Americas, particularly Central America and the Yucatan region. This group of peppers are known for their interesting flavors and intense heat. The hottest varieties of peppers in the world are native to the same group as the habanero-types. For these reasons they're often added to stews, sauces and marinades to add some kick to an otherwise bland dish.

October 20th, Day 158: Capsicum Pubescens

Fruit Info: Of all the cultivated species of pepper, the Pubescens is the most systematically isolated, to the point that It is reproductively isolated from all the others. It apparently is sometimes referred to as the manzano pepper or apple pepper. A pretty fitting as you can tell if you've ever seen an apple (And if you haven't boy have I got a forums thread for you). It's also pretty unique among peppers from it's ability to withstand colder temperatures.

October 21st, Day 159: Capsicum Frutescens

Fruit Info: This species of pepper is a fairly spicy boi. It's best known kind is probably the tabasco pepper for it's famous sauce. Despite being a single species though there is a lot of different varieties of them including tabasco, Hawaiian, piri piri and more. The species is believed to have originated from south or central America before spread quickly throughout the tropical and subtropical regions surrounding.

October 22nd, Day 160: Capsicum Chacoense

Fruit Info: What's more wild than a pepper? A wild pepper. This kind of pepper is native to South America, and is seldom ever cultivated by humans. Despite that, it still produces perfectly edible fruit fresh for the picking. It's also useful of phylogenetic modeling? Idk the wikipedia article on this was short and lacking on interesting content.

Fruit Tier: D

Due to overwhelming amounts of demand we will be starting a new series entirely about yellow fruits today.

October 23rd, Day 161: Dent Corn

Fruit Info: One of the roughly six types of widely cultivated corn, the dent corn is known for it's high starch content. It's name comes from the fact that on a ripe ear of corn, each kernel has a small indentation on it's crown. Cornmeal flower's primary ingredient is this bad boy, so you can thank him for all those delicious corn chips you've eaten. The starch content is also really useful in the production of plastics and high-fructose corn syrup.
