I feel like you can just inject purple food colouring into corn just to get this corn, but at least this corn doesn’t have you eating the leaves or forcing you to pick at the leaves for 5 mins.

November 6th, Day 175: Syzygium Jambos

Fruit Info: Today’s fruit is the Syzygium Jambos, otherwise known by the name of it and it’s related fruit, the rose apple. The Syzygium originated in Southeast Asia but has since been introduced to all continents except Antarctica. It appears also to be edible + high in vitamin C. But I haven’t seen a description on it’s taste yet so idk.

Fruit Tier: B

November 7th, Day 176: Watery Rose Apple

Fruit Info: Syzygium Aqueum, otherwise known as the watery rose apple, water apple, or bell fruit, is a species of rose apple native to Malesia, New Guinea and Queensland. The plant is cultivated in the region mainly for its wood and the fruit. The fruit itself apparently has a mild but slightly sweet flavor like an apple, but with the flesh having a texture more similar to a watermelon.

November 8th, Day 177: Malay Rose Apple

Fruit Info: We have yet another Rose Apple today, this one also native to Malesia. It has since been introduced to Oceania and the Caribbean. According to Wikipedia “It’s taste is bland but refreshing” so Take from that what you will. They were originally grown as “canoe plants” also so that’s neat I guess.

This is when you get your Cryptite head.
Then so be it.

November 9th, Day 178: Java Apple

Fruit Info: Originally developed under the name Oak by James Gosling at Sun Microsystems, Java is an object orienten... Wait... Wrong one. The Java Apple is also known as the wax apple, and the Semarang Rose Apple. Today’s rose Apple is commonly found in regions of southern India, for reasons Wikipedia didn’t clarify. It also is apparently similar in taste to a snow pear, which I didn’t know existed, with a watermelon like texture. It’s also pretty to look at.

November 10th, Day 179: Sydney Red Gum

Fruit Info: The Sydney red gum is a kind of tree endemic to eastern Australia. Despite one of its common names being the smooth barked apple, there’s not much I’ve found in 4 minutes of research about The fruit. So I guess that the fruit is kind of neat is the info we’re gonna go with.

Fruit Tier: E (Because E stands for mystery)

November 11th, Day 180: Magenta Lilly Pilly

Fruit Info: Today’s fruit, the Magenta Lilly Pilly is possibly the best named fruit I’ve seen in all my time doing this. I mean look at that name. The fruit also apparently has pretty similar characteristics to that of the red grape in terms of sugar, acid, coloring and more. Which means it can be fermented for a lovely wine

Fruit Tier A Just for that name

November 12th, Day 181: Creek Lilly-Pilly

Fruit Info: Today’s fruit is a close relative and is often confused with the Magenta Lilly-Pilly from yesterday. Alternative names include the Brush Cherry, Scrub Cherry and Watergum. The fruit also has a pleasantly sour taste when eaten fresh, cooked or as a jam.

November 13th, Day 182: Blue Lilly-Pilly

Fruit Info: Also known as the blue cherry and the scented satinash this fruit has a short enough Wikipedia article for me to just copy paste the bulk of it.
“It is usually a small tree, 4 to 15 m tall. The leaves are opposite, simple and lanceolate to ovate, with a dark glossy upper surface and paler under-surface. The leaves have oil dots and are distinctly aromatic when crushed, with aromas reminiscent of lemons Its flowers are small and white-cream colored. It produces a purplish red fruit when young, changing to purplish blue when ripe, 13–40 mm in diameter.”
“The blue fruit can be eaten freshly picked from the tree or cooked. It has a pleasantly crisp texture and is mildly aromatic and sweet. The fruit can also be made into jams, jellies and wine. It is also grown as an ornamental plant.”

November 14th, Day 183: Shore Eugenia

Fruit Info: Native to Maritime Southeast Asia this fruit is one of the many, many, many, species of Syzygium out there (They have actually made up 8 out of the 9 most recent posts). I can ramble on for ages about this fruit but I actually can’t because there’s so little I found on it. Wikipedia’s entire description of the fruit is
“The flowers are compact in the inflorescence. Fruits are small, white and berry-like. can be found in”. But y’know what, we’ll take what we can get.

November 15th, Day 184: Water Berry

Fruit Info: Syzygium cordatum, is the water loving fruit we’ll be highlighting today. One of multiple fruits referred to as the “water berry” this fruit can be found near streams and in swampy sections in forests. The flesh is easily edible but is notably acidic, so don’t eat it with a mouth sore. And apparently it’s one of the (as I have found out) many many many many fruits that can be used to make an obscure type of alcoholic drink. My favorite fact though is that the powdered bark of the tree is usable as a fish poison according to the 100% infallible Wikipedia.

November 16th, Day 185: Sea Apple

Fruit Info: Syzygium grande is today’s fruit. It’s primary habitat along the coast of Southeast Asia, which is almost certainly the “sea” part of “sea apple”. It’s fruit is green. And just like that I’ve exhausted all meaningful info I’ve found on it.

November 17th Day 186: Bumpy Satinash

Fruit Info: The bumpy satinash is yet another Syzygium. This one is native to the Queensland region of Australia. the fruit is largely unpalatable for humans, but is eaten by the southern cassowary. This is because cassowary have horrible taste in food, friends, interior decor, and life choices in general

Fruit Info: The riberry, also known as the small leaved lilly pilly or the cherry satinash, is yet another Australian native Syzygium. This onesie primarily grown for ornamental purposes. Despite that, you can still eat the berry, in fact it’s distinct bitter taste is great for jams and syrups.
