Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the fruit of the plant Rhapis excelsa. This fruit is a native to southern China and Taiwan. There are no known of these fruits in the wild, they’re all cultivated.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the Metroxylon vitiense. This fruit is a native to the islands of Fiji. This fruit has scales like a pineapple that come in green, golden yellow, dark brown and grey.

Fruit Info: Metroxylon warburgii is the scientific name for the plant that grows today’s fruit. If you ever want to find one you would have to look for it in the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu to have any success.

Fruit Info: Akat or Akaat is the name of the fruit you see below in the Tigre language. There is no common English name as far as I have found. The rind of the fruit is used to make a molasses and cakes. It is also sold by street vendors in Egypt.

October 31st, Day 1222: Turnip Jack-O’-Lantern

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have a jack-o’-lantern carved out of a turnip. This may feel like an oddity, but in fact this is how they were many many years ago in the haunting nation of Ireland. I don’t know about you guys, but this one feels notably more scary than the pumpkin based variety.

Fruit Info: Jubaea chilensis is endemic to the southwestern regions of South America. It is also known as the fruit of the Chilean Cocopalm. The seeds of this fruit are often eaten under the name of the cocquito nut.

Fruit Info: This fruit produces only a single seed over the course of its existence. From the time it begins as a green little nun to its more mature and red form as a ripe adult fruit. This fruit is also only native to Vanuatu, an island in the Pacific Ocean.

Fruit Info: Grown from a species of palm tree native to Southeast Asia, this fruit has two different varieties that it may come in. The first variety is found in Malaysia and Thailand and the second variety is native to the Southeast Asia region as a whole. If you’re wondering that their difference is, then your guess is as good as mine.

Fruit Info: Here we have the fruit of Mangrove Fan Palm. It is a native to the wet regions of Southeast Asia, both salt water and fresh water.

Fruit Info: Today we have the talipot palm fruit. This fruit is a native to eastern and southern India, Cambodia and to Sri Lanka. It also comes from a plant that was used heavily in the writing of religious manuscripts which is neat.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the fruit of the Moriche Palm. This fruit has a yellow colored flesh that encases a hard nut that is it’s seed. The fruit grows between December and April.
