Suggestion remove merc town

They are simply more convenient than creating a new town or maintaining multiple towns across continents and keeping them up for the one time you can contest a alliance on said continent.
Why would you ever need to create a town on a different continent? You dont have to own a town on every continent you are on.

Due to mercing you do not need to have a town on every continent to fight on said continent anymore, read the whole thing.

Merc towns should be a community choice thing.
Like others have already said, they are. Nobody's forcing you to be a merc town. Move towns if you want to.

i joined my friends town which is in Karlos and it is a merc town to Helian League, but turns out i cant warp on this town because it is in KARLOS
This sounds like it may just be a bug. The lock order should check Town then alliance then world.

This problem only exists because there is no reason to play conquest other than "It's fun".
I assume you're suggesting the problem being that policies are stale and unattractive (which we agree with), but uh... I think it's okay if people just do it for "fun". This is a game after all.

Without a novel set of players joining the server to challenge the status quo, if it's the same people doing the same thing over and over again and "everybody" has seen the end-game, policies, achievements, etc then they are going to fight for fun. This would be the case regardless of changes to policies. And if the policies were so super attractive that everybody fought for them, there's a pretty good chance those policies are probably OP and might lead to "the rich getting richer". There's wiggle room there though of course.

they move to their own towns because they feel safer in their own towns and then they join the alliance
You are making the worst possible arguments imaginable. You dont need to move all of your things to a different town everytime you move. There is a reason that the personal vault exists.

welp not hard to make some friends on other continents, friends who you trust and you know they wont cashran u or something :V

Since i see admins wont be removing it too soon, i think there should be endeed a limit of merc towns then. At least things like me, and 4vorz said wont happen, where the X alliance won ascalon but in fact there was like 2 ascalon towns and the rest garama / karlos towns. Or make merc towns pay more or something

there is no point in increasing the town tax as money is already too much right now. let me remind you that everyone is likely to get greedy and steal.

I just think that the main problem is that the average player is completely unaffected by who wins the month. There is no secondary objective on the server for players to focus on outside of conquest, and every policy and perk from winning the month or acquiring more territories only directly contributes to the next month of conquest. Most players will just spend their free time ganking, which is also completely meaningless as a set holds the value of about 37 cobblestone. Even if this wasn’t the case, the only beneficial way set up to spend these shards is just to support the next conquest cycle, as everything else on the server is just for fun or cosmetic. The quests and achievements are really cool, and ranked is great, but the main gameplay loop of the server is pretty basic and has seemed pretty dead over the last few years.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Loka is a great server, easily the best one I’ve ever played. I just think that there is a ton of potential to still take advantage of.

I agree with everything you've said except for this. This is just a symptom of being on the server consistently for awhile. If you came back from a longish break players do say that the server changes; it only feels so repetitive as if nothing changes because the change is so extremely slow and small.

New better policies could hopefully fix some of these issues in my opinion.
