I would like to know honestly and in as much detail as possible what everyone withdraws and deposits in banks and gens. What item do you use to run your gen the most? (e.g. iron) What item you withdraw the most of from the bank? etc. I require this information so we can balance the economy as we are going to adjust bank prices slightly as well as gen costs. The more feedback the better. Also any opinions on any over or under priced ores is appreciated.

Exactly we want to promote players trading with each other and want to remain vanilla where we can, which is why i feel banks no longer serve a purpose.

Trading isnt always easy due to players playing on different time zones etc, therefore i think we should assist it in some way. Maybe putting some kind of market at spawn or some kind of auto trading system. What are peoples thoughts?

Might I suggest creating a poll for removing bank vs. keeping bank?

I see no need, we advertise as a legit semi vanilla server which i am proud to be a part of. The bank was only there because of gens and it no longer servers that purpose so it needs to go. We will keep the prices up so players can get a rough value of items and so they know the value of what they are putting in their gen.

Well people like the bank because it makes life easier for them. If we had a pole on whether we should give everyone creative or not i think people would just vote in favour of creative. Just because people want it doesn't mean its the best thing for the server.

OK maybe not the best example, but i hope you understand the point i was trying to make. We can put a poll up and see what the general feedback is but i feel we need to have a proper discussion on the positives and negatives of the bank rather than just going on what people vote for.

I think a poll would be good for determining who/what problems you need to address. You're going to get a lot more votes than posts.

I agree with mag, a poll on this topic would probably get results that, while accurate in their depiction of how server players feel on the subject, may not be the best indicator for how things ought to actually go down. People will want things to be easier for themselves, whereas the server is about semi-vanilla survival SMP, which is not always "easy". Fun, yes, but not really easy.
