Friendly Reminders for 1.8... [see new posts]

After some testing I have concluded that granite, diorite, and andesite do not spawn in old chunks. To obtain them we will need an expansion of the map. On the bright side, they are all very common and there are no longer those ugly version borders.
Damnit. We're far apart as it is on this map though, can't we just get a new world crypt?

I flew around the borders of a 1000x1000 chunk of 1.7 land and saw nothing that would distinguish it from the 1.8 land. You'd never know unless you dug down and saw the presence/lack of the new stone blocks.

Friendly Reminder #5

Mossy, cracked, and chiseled stone brick will be craftable in 1.8. If you want to sell them for any amount of money I'd suggest you quickly find a sucker who doesn't know. Sponges will also be much more common, though they may retain most of their value.

Sooooo a bunch of Bukkit developers quit a couple weeks ago because of the new EULA. One of them, who was one of the original coders for CraftBukkit, has ordered CraftBukkit to be taken down. It looks like Mojang is supporting its removal as well.

I'm not 100% sure, but I thought Mojang (since they hired most of the Bukkit team) was developing it internally for 1.8. Dinnerbone was at least.

We, however, use Spigot, and while spigot is a pull of Bukkit, we may be alright. Spigot has 1.8 versions out now but I'm don't think most of our most important plugins are updated yet.

After most of the Bukkit team quit Dinnerbone reassured everyone that he would be updating Bukkit himself and I guess he'll be updating future versions as well. It doesn't seem to be much of a problem for him.

Spigot is fighting to stay alive so I suppose we just have to hope for the best.

Edit: Alright so it looks like this guy is just angry that Mojang is claiming to own his code so he's taking down what he can. You'd think that might piss Mojang off a bit but they're developing their own API for mods so it doesn't bother them a whole lot. They're going to want everyone to switch to theirs anyways. Although this API thing has been in development for a couple years now so there's no telling when it'll actually be ready.

I have no idea what the API update will look like, but god I hope it looks like Bukkit's API... I'm both very excited and anxious to see what it is. Wonder if it's 1.9?

Too long: didn't read, was there a solution to spawning new ores in existing chunks? Or will we need to travel 20k blocks to harvest?

No current chunks will be repopulated in any way. There are however plenty of ungenerated chunks within 20k, though (many in oceans). If you want new block types as opposed to ores, you'll probably be better off going past 20k.

I'm thinking all but the most simple slime block machines will malfunction due to server lag
