Also, as long as a block does not completely block light, a beacon will still function. So you can have beacons covered by water now.

I wonder how this I going to affect crafting. The doors and gates will be simple, just use the corresponding wood types, but the fences. The fences could be crafted using the same recipe as trap doors, but that would require a new recipe for trap doors.

What she's saying is that the sticks crafted from all types of planks are the same, so you wouldn't be able to get the different colored fence. If you tried to use planks in place of the sticks, you would get trap doors. So either we're getting different colored sticks according to wood type, or we're getting another recipe.

Looks like we're getting another recipe. Sticks in the middle, with planks on either side of the type of wood that you want.
