So wither skeletons that die to a super charged creeper now have a 100% skull drop rate.

Also, those with low frame rate can now live in the sky for 200 fps.

I'm really liking the level of creativity here

"We are now in the bug fixing phase, that's closer to a release than before, but still no idea how long it will take. When it's done."

So basically 1.8 in 1 month.

While watching the Minecraft Weekly News, narrators Toby and David spotlighted on a site that helps one designs banners. This site allows someone to create and design their banners while showing how to craft them in-game.

The new multi-threaded chunk loading is probably the best thing in that update, honestly.

So since multi-threading now applies to mobs it is now possible to have thousands of mobs squashed together in a grinder without experiencing any lag (in SSP). It's obviously not going to be quite as efficient in SMP, but this should still radically decrease any problems caused by mob farming.

This is also very exciting. It may mean mob grinders can be left untouched, in addition to farms.

I hope they have a hitbox comparable to an actual player. Would be good for target practice.

I am also hearing that we will be able to color beacon beams with stained glass and that red sandstone will be added.

(directly from the wiki)
  • Armor Stands
    • Can be used to decoratively display armor (including pumpkins, mob heads and player heads)
      • Armor can be right-clicked to be applied to the armor stand
      • Armor can be removed by right-clicking on the piece of armor you want to remove
      • Also render enchanted, colored armor
    • Crafted using a stone slab and 6 sticks
    • Stack up to 16
    • Armor stands are actually entities not blocks and can therefore can be summoned using /summon ArmorStand and put in minecarts
    • NBT tags can be used to create armor stands which are small, invisible, have arms, etc... making them highly customizable
  • Red Sandstone
    • Similar to sandstone, except red
    • Generates in Mesas at cave entrances
      • Orange stained clay continues to generate under red sand
    • Can be crafted with 4 red sand in a square
    • Can be crafted into chiseled, smooth, stair and slab forms
  • NBT tags
    • NoAI tag can be applied to entities to disable their AI.
      • Mobs without AI do not attack players or move or rotate on their own, and do not despawn, they also do not respond to gravity or collision with other mobs, but can still take damage, die, and ride in minecart
  • Beacons
    • Beacon light beams color when going through stained glass
      • Making it feed into multiple stained glass blocks will combine the colors
