okay now we’re at this. looking 80% chance it’s placebo, haven’t tested it myself but lurnn did. now we’re at, why tell us something if he hadn’t confirmed itself it wasn’t real? if others knew it was placebo, why didn’t gomez know himself instead of telling everyone it was a kb modifier? and just because it was placebo, is intent of cheating a good enough cause to strip his sword and title? lots of new topics here.
Yea we don't know the effect the versions had on his overall performance (it probably wasn't much if any), but he intended to cheat or conspired to. At the very least there should be a slap on the wrist for that. Honestly, I think if they did a rematch that would be a sort of compromise to the situation instead of either fully stripping title/sword from g0mez or letting him keep it with no repercussions.

i did talk to you about it in dms but i’m not trying to be rude here imma just repeat what i said. g0mez used the version before anything else. i mean have you seen me and g0mez kb. for someone with low ping we take not that much kb. me and g0mez just assumed it was the version that was causing our kb to be shit but it was just rather something else such as connection settings. Forge and Optifine was simply a placebo to me and g0mez and it didn’t nothing to KB. we were attached to the fact that it affected our kb even though we didn’t bother testing out other versions to see it this affected your kb or not. there’s your response to why g0mez didn’t know

When he says he is using a KB modifier via forge and optifine you have no issue believing that with little to no proof of it even working.
When everyone believes its a placebo and not a KB modifier you blame him for not testing and showing evidence before he stated he was using Forge and Optifine.
Your taking his word only when it fits your narrative.

After reading all 8 pages of this college essay forum post,
I would like to say this first. I do not by any means think g0mez is cheating. I would like to apologize to the people who put effort into this post, but in reality, if I got the sword I'd just burn it out of regret in the long run. No reason to break personal bonds over something in minecraft. When I first lost, I thought to myself "I just quickdropped," and moved along with my day. But overnight and throughout the next day multiple people messaged me that g0mez was cheating this and that and that I won but got f'ed over. With further research into the situation everyone was frustrated in the fact that g0mez was publically admitting his forgeclient was reducing his kb, and for a little while I was on edge myself. But reading through the forums posts now I can say that it doesn't matter, and it was almost 3 weeks ago. I believe that this forums post should just be an indication for further tournaments that there should be deeper investigations into screensharing (like I said, I don't think he cheats).

The simple summary of this is that after a screenshare, g0mez wasn't found to have anything other than unmodified and latest OF/Forge. These mods are not against our rules. Further, there is no actual proof that these versions provide any changes to normal knockback.
What g0mez said with regards to whether it does anything or not is irrelevant. We make our decisions based on facts and what things do, and not what they are said to do. There's nothing to change and the Tournament results will stand.
