I wonder if the ender pearl cooldown will prevent players from using ender pearls to pass through blocks (I have not tested this, and my apologies if I'm overlooking something obvious). Have you seen any indication of the duration of the cooldown period? This would also hinder me in my fancy ender pearl escapes :(
 
Yeah from what I can tell it does prevent the abuse of pearls except in very rare circumstances. The cooldown is about 2 seconds.

I'm curious if the code can be copied over to existing items to give them cooldowns as well and if the cooldown duration can be modified. That'd be nice for you wouldn't it Crypt? As it is, the attack speed stat on weapons and tools can be freely modified or removed completely so that's something you'll have fun with I'm sure.

Major change to the way health regeneration works in the latest snapshot.

As you may or may not know, every type of food gives you a hidden saturation value which determines how long it will be before your hunger bar begins to decrease again. In the latest snapshot this saturation value will also be used to rapidly regenerate any missing health points. If the saturation bar is emptied and you still need health points your hunger bar will be used to regenerate health like it currently does in 1.8, but at a 1:1 ratio.

So basically foods with higher saturation values like steak, stew, and golden carrots are now incredibly powerful when you need a lot of health quickly. Foods with lower or no saturation value like melons will be even worse than they are now for survival purposes.

And in other news the next project to be worked on will be boats. We have no details concerning what changes will actually be implemented.
 
Another big announcement:

There is a tag that all entities have called "Riding" which allows another entity to ride it, e.g. boats and horses. This is being changed to "Passengers" meaning more than one entity can ride one thing. And it just so happens that Dinnerbone is currently working on boats.

Coincidence?
 
Oh, I hope they make iron boats or something durable (and, sure, more costly). I like traveling by boat, but I loathe MC boats' fragility.
 
I hope we can move the new Purple Mob (sorry suck at spelling and to lazy to look it up) so then we could have mob based security systems.
 
1.9 is going to be an insanely big update with a ton of new stuff going on. just curious if any concrete plans have been made for loka regarding some of the new changes? Things like the PvP have gotten massive changes. It will mean introducing more options with things like shields and special arrows being introduced. Along with tools seeing uses as weapons. Axes can disable shields for instance. don't even get me started on attack speeds... Not only will it effect arenas though but now mobs are 10x harder to kill. With attack speed restricting the speed at which you can kill mobs, the over abundance of mobs in Loka, which was more or less balanced before, will make it impossibly difficult. I'm no stranger to tough survival, I love it in fact, but that isn't what Loka is.

Beyond changes to pvp side, which hopefully won't honesty cause too much stress, the idea of the Elytra is very cool but poses big problems. One of my favorite things about Loka is the role Playing aspect and town building aspect. As was mentioned above, flying raiders. This poses a big threat to any town not located completely underground and makes security nearly impossible. although disabling them is possible i would instead like to see a defense against them. Like a industry building that can prevent flying or perhaps a structure more likes roads that's more general and simple creates like a no fly zone.

One of my final concerns for 1.9 changes would be... Who gets beetroots??
