April 25th, Day 707: African Star Apple

Fruit Info:
Chrysophyllum albidum, is the tree found throughout tropical Africa that gives rise to today’s fruit. Unsurprisingly it has many different names throughout the different cultures of the region. It is closely related to two other fruits which many believe could be just variations of the same species.

April 26th, Day 708: Cainito

Fruit Info: Today’s fruit is a native to the Isthmus of Panama, where the plant it comes from has been domesticated. Chrysophyllum cainito is also known for its skin and time not being edible because they are high in latex among other things.

Fruit Info: Measuring in at about the size of an olive, today we have the satinleaf. This fruit comes from the plant Chrysophyllum oliviforme, and they become a dark purplish color when they fully mature.

April 28th, Day 710: Chrysophyllum roxburghii

Fruit Info: Chrysophyllum roxburghii is a plant species in the family Sapotaceae. It grows as a tree up to 30 metres (100 ft) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 40 cm (16 in). The bark is grey to dark brown. Inflorescence bear up to 45 flowers. The fruit are brownish to purplish black, ripening yellow, round, up to 4 cm (2 in) in diameter. Its habitat is lowland forests from sea level to 700 metres (2,300 ft) altitude.” - Wikipedia

April 29th, Day 711: Stamvrug

Fruit Info: Today is the Stamvrug, which is its Afrikaans name that literally translated to stem fruit. This name is a reference to it growing in clusters close to the branch or trunk of the tree. Supposedly the fruit is tasty and sweet, with the fleshing taking on a bit of a pink color.

April 30th, Day 712: Buranhém

Fruit Info: “Pradosia lactescens is a species of large tree in the family Sapotaceae. It is endemic to the Atlantic forests of Brazil, and is most commonly known by the name buranhém. The species is cauliflorous, with red flowers being followed by small, edible, yellow fruit.” - Wikipedia

May 1st, Day 713: Bladder Cherry

Fruit Info: Today we have Physalis alkekengi, which is known by a few names including Chinese-Lantern, Japanese-Lantern, strawberry groundcherry, and winter cherry. This particular fruit is native to Europe whereas all of its close relatives are native to the Americas. And tbh, this is one of the neatest looking fruit I’ve seen in a hot minute while doing this.

Fruit Info: Here we have the mago berry, today’slovely little Hoenn region native. It is capable of restoring 1/8th of a Pokémon’s health when they drop below 1/2, but at the cost of confusing the Pokémon.

May 3rd, Day 715: Qualot Berry

Fruit Info: Today’s fruit is a native of the Hoenn region too. Unlike yesterday’s fruit, this one’s use is more subtle. It raises a Pokémon’s friendship level while lowering its defense EV’s by 10 points.

Fruit Info: Anacardium humile, a plant species from the genus Anacardium and the family Anacardiaceae is known for its medicinal and insecticidal properties. The shrub is commonly found in the Brazilian Pantanal and Cerrado.”

Fruit Info: I bring you Bouea macrophylla for today’s fruit of the day. This fruit is highly acidic but is supposed to taste a lot like the mango. It can be eaten raw, pickled, and much more.

Fruit Info: Typically referred to as Lapsi and aamli in Nepali speaking communities, today’s fruit bears the full scientific name of Choerospondias axillaris. The fruit can be used for fruit tarts, sour candy and jams.

May 8th, Day 720: Grepa Berry

Fruit Info: Today we have another berry native to the Hoenn region. The seed will grow into a fully developed, fruit growing tree in 12-48 hours depending on where you live. This berry can also lower your pokemons special defense evs while raising their friendship levels.
