Fruit Info: Here we have the common haw, also known as the one-seed haw. It belongs to a very common variety of hawthorn that is native throughout much of Europe, Western Asia, and Northern Africa. This fruit can be eaten raw but is more commonly made into jellies and such.

Fruit Info: Known as the Pennsylvanian Haw, today’s fruit grows on a plant known as the Pennsylvania Thorn. This fruit is a native of Delaware, New York, North Carolina, Ontario, Ohio, and some more surrounding areas.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have another species of haw, this one growing on the small-flowered black hawthorn. These fruits according to Wikipedia are “usually black, but are sometimes a handsome purple”. So make of that what you please.

May 28th, Day 1298: Crataegus persimilis

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the plumleaf haw. This fruit is a native of Southern Ontario and some of the United States south of that. That’s about it. Neat.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the Washington Haw, which grows in the Washington Hawthorn. This fruit grows in large clusters and serves as a food source for birds and squirrels. It can also be eaten raw by people, and his a fairly mild flavor.

Fruit Info: For today’s fruit of the day we have yet another species of haw, this one a native of southern regions in central British Columbia. Weirdly enough it can also be found in Washington state and Montana.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the frosted haw, which grows on the frosted hawthorn. This fruit is a native of the eastern United States and southern Canada. Some botanists consider it to be multiple species.

Fruit Info: Here we have yet another species of haw as our fruit of the day. This fruit is a native to the north and central mountains of Peloponnesus in Greece. Otherwise, there’s not much else to say here.

Fruit Info: For todays fruit of the day we have the river hawthorn’s fruit, which can be referred to as a river haw. Another name for the plant threat grows this fruit is the black-fruited hawthorn. It is a native of the northwestern United States.

June 6th, Day 1307: Crataegus scabrofolia

Fruit Info: The next installment of this fruit of the day saga is yet another type of haw (they never seem to end). This particular variety is from China and it grows in high altitude areas between 1500 meters and 3000 meters up. These fruits are edible, and are larger than most haws.

Fruit Info: For our fruit of the day today we have the fruit of the tansy-leaved thorn. It is a native of Turkey where it occurs in rocky places and dry slopes. This fruit can be eaten cooked or raw.
