January 9th, Day 1523: Cupaniopsis foveolata

Fruit Info: Our next fruit of the day in this long running series is the white tamarind, sometimes known as the toothed tuckeroo, and the narrow-leaved tuckeroo. It can be found in eastern Queensland and New South Wales. This fruit is a yellow orange color when ripe and has 3 segments.

January 10th, Day 1524: Cupaniopsis shirleyana

Fruit Info: Here we have our newest fruit of the day which is shockingly, yet another relative of the last couple fruits we’ve had. This one is known as the wedge-leaved tuckeroo. This fruit is an orange when ripe and contains a single seed. It is a native of the Queensland area in Australia.

January 11th, Day 1525: Cupaniopsis wadsworthii

Fruit Info: Out fruit of the day today is the duckfoot, sometimes known as the dwarf tuckeroo. This fruit grows on a slender tree in Queensland Australia. It grows to be an orange or yellow color as it ripens. They ripen from October to December.

January 12th, Day 1526: Dodonaea camfieldii

Fruit Info: Here for our next fruit of the day we have this here native of New South Wales. This fruit is a capsule with four wing like structures on it. As it matures it becomes a reddish, brownish or purplish color.

January 13th, Day 1527: Dodonaea lobulata

Fruit Info: Here for our fruit of the day we have a close relative of yesterday’s fruit of the day. The entire Wikipedia article of the plant that grows it says ”Dodonaea lobulata is a species of plant native to Australia.” So uh, there you go I suppose.

January 14th, Day 1528: Dodonaea microzyga

Fruit Info: You can find our next fruit of the day right here, and it is the cousin of yesterday’s fruit. This fruit grows three wing like structures on the outside of it. These wings will break open/off and release the seeds from inside of the fruit. It is native to various areas of southern Australia and it grows on a plant called the brilliant hop bush.

Fruit Info: Today for our fruit of the day we have the fruit of the trailing hop bush, or as it is sometimes known, the creeping hop bush. This fruit is a native of eastern Australia and can be found as a non native species throughout various other regions of Australia.

Fruit Info: Our next fruit of the day in this oddly long series of fruits of the day is the fruit of the desert hop bush. This fruit also grows in southern parts of Australia. This fruit is a four winged capsule separating it from all of the closely related three winged capsule fruits.
