Suggestion Town Choices/More Customise-able

Does the perk system need a change along these lines?

Hello Lokians! This thread asks a simple question. Is the town system able to have more customisation? If so where's the limit and is it worth it?

I've owned my own fair share of towns that were both used for different situations; some towns main goal was to just build something interesting whilst others was just to try and pvp more. From my experience of owning towns I can say that a town is just a town currently. The town that you make in terms of commands and perks is exactly the same as all other towns in terms of progression. I believe that towns could be built on to become more personal and this in turn would allow players to become more invested personally into their towns.

I'd like to ask if it would be possible to ever add in town choices. For example, to have speed on paths blocks, or haste?

On a separate note I was wondering if it would ever be possible or useful for a town to have to choose a different path for their town or skill tree. For example a town could either go down path X or path Y.
If player went down path X they'd have access to the abilities that path would offer e.g. different industries/in town buffs. However, they would not be able to have access to the abilities in path Y. I believe this path system would allow for towns to become more specialised in the sense that builder towns would pursue the path that would help their projects most and fighter towns would peruse a path that would help with combat and combat supplies.

The only problem that I can so far see with this system is how one path might be more useful than others and towns would quickly shovel themselves down the, "most useful" path rather than looking into each different one.

With the path system it would be able to be reset every peace time like an alliance. However, it would allow players to choose paths at any time if they have not yet done so.

I say all this knowing that this sounds like a complete perks overhaul; I'd like to assure everyone reading this that I've tried to keep it as simple as possible and clear of any industries.

Interesting idea. To your point on path block speed, that is already a thing if you put cobblestone under a block. You do get speed for that.

As to the rest I like the idea but the main challenge would be identifying enough town perks to justify even having 2 paths. Currently we have a unique leveling system but even still lvl 24 and 25 for towns don't offer a perk. It would be incredibly difficult to come up with unique perk paths towns could go down and even more so to make them balanced and unique enough that a PvP town would go one way while a building or trading town another.

It's a great suggestion but maybe add onto it more with what kind of perks you would like to see from path x and y and where that could lead towns w/o putting them at a conquest disadvantage? Would like to hear you expand more on this.

Believe it or not I left it as bare as possible. In the original forum I had massive suggestions and about 5 different paths already thought out; I left out information like that on purpose so that players in this forum wouldn't be influenced by the direction I seemed to be going and therefore they would have more individual suggestions to put forward.

Also yes I added in speed on cobble as a buff because it's an example to just try and give an idea. However, I'd like it to not be limited to perks that are already in game; everything can be built on.

Actually coming up with buffs for this is considerably hard. However, if your argument is that it may be to hard to come up with a strong list of buffs to even consider adding this too the game I believe that if we added it that over time suggestions would come about over time.

Addressing that fact that it may appear to be unbalanced. I believe that as long as we keep it simple the idea of balancing will not be a problem. For example, X gets strength buff on town grounds, Y gets speed both. X get night vision, Y gets absorption.

X gets an industry that produces pot materials. Y gets an industry with custom items rare to Loka.
X have the ability to summon a major town protector. Y have the ability to summon many town protectors.
