November 13th, Day 548: Hog Plum

Fruit Info: Spondias pinnata, is a sour fruit native to the Philippines and Indonesia that has been spread widely throughout Southeast Asia. The fruit can be made into jellies and jams if you want, but I prefer the more creative use of them as a souring agent.

November 20th, Day 554: Canadian Serviceberry

Fruit Info: Supposedly today’s fruit is used for medicinal purposes, food and ornamentally, but sources are admittedly scarce on those facts. Amelanchier canadensisis, however, very well known to be native to Canada. It’s native to the entire US east coast too, but people just like to take special note of the Canada part I guess.

November 26th, Day 560: Beautiful Grape

Fruit Info: This fruit must have named itself because the beautiful grape is one of the most self flattering names I’ve seen for a fruit yet. It is native to a few different provinces in China. And now in this post it will be henceforth referred to by its much less flattering name of Vitis bellula
