September 13th, Day 847: Actinidia eriantha

Fruit Info: Todays fruit is a relative of the kiwi. But theres really nothing left I can say about this fruit because the only picture I have of it is in a group shot with others in the kiwi family. It doesn’t even have its own Wikipedia article.

Fruit Tier: E

It’s the fruits labeled E in this picture

September 14th, Day 848: Actinidia setosa

Fruit Info: Today’s fruit is another close relative of the kiwi that, just like our previous fruit, has no Wikipedia article and no individual picture. This means that said fruit has next to no info for me to paste here so instead I have to ramble on like this to make it seem like I put work into these posts.

Fruit Tier: S

The fruit labeled S in this picture is the one today.

September 15th, Day 849: Matatabi

Fruit Info: Today we have the Matatabi, otherwise known as the silver vine and Actinidia polygama, for our fruit if the day. It is native to Japan, Korea, and China. The plant that grows this fruit can cause a seemingly more intense version of the euphoric effect catnip has on cats.

Fruit Tier: C

The fruit labeled P in this picture is ours today. 56F49F91-96EC-46C2-B55F-FCF4CD1CF6D5.jpeg

September 16th, Day 850: Vescuvonga

Fruit Info: Vescueria malsencoptry is our fruit of the day today. While this fruit may have a relatively unassuming and uneventful appearance, when you open it up you are greeted with way more than initially expected. This fruit is found all across the globe but some speculate that it may have originated from within South America. Supposedly this fruit may even be related to one of our past fruits.

September 17th, Day 851: Roseli Berry

Fruit Info: we have the Roseli Berry as our fruit of the day. Native to certain areas of the Kalros regio, this berry has a rich sweetness and an elegant fragrance that make it very hard to resist for people and Pokémon alike. But at least for Pokémon it also provides resistance to super effective fairy type attacks.

September 18th, Day 852: Potato Fruit

Fruit Info: Yes, you head me right, today’s fruit is the potato fruit. A true legend of a fruit because it comes from one of the most widely consumed plants out there, but unlike the tubers that people know and love, this fruit contains very toxic glycoalkaloids. This makes the fruit unfit for human consumption, so think about that next time you’re chowing down on a potato.

September 23rd, Day 857: Himalayan Balsam

Fruit Info: Impatiens glandulifera also known as ornamental jewelweed or as kiss-me-on-the-mountain is the pant that grows our fruit of the day. I’m sure you’ll be shocked to know that, given it’s name, this fruit is native to the Himalayas. Wow! Overall this species grows in many other locations than the Himalayas, but it is invasive to almost all of them.

September 25th, Day 859: Sunflower fruit

Fruit Info: For our fruit of the day today we have the fruit of the common sunflower, Helianthus annus. This fruit is effectively just a dry shell around the a sunflower seed. For this reason it is commonly referred to as the hull of the seed. Oftentimes this hull is part of the “sunflower seed” that you would eat.

he just posted a big seed and called it a fruit
Yeah I can see this being a big misconception. See in the image I posted the left part is the seed but the right is a fruit. The distinction here is more subtle than usual though.

What you see on the right is a special kind of fruit called an achene. It is a type of dry fruit that holds a single seed that takes up most of the fruit’s pericarp but is not actually attached to the fruit. The hardening of the fruit’s outside wall is what makes it appear like a seed despite not being one. Common examples include the sunflower and the strawberry actually. The little brown “seeds” on strawberries are actually the achene fruit of the plant, and the juicy red part is called an accessory fruit.

This goes to show that what we often view as a fruit/not a fruit is not necessarily accurate to the biological definition of a fruit. Rest assured though, that a mistake like that will not be made on my watch. I hold myself to a rigorous standard of only posting actual fruits like the lemon, papaya, persimmon, Buddha’s hand, oran berry, tiger, and Boeing 737 airliner.

September 26th, Day 860: Hamster fruit

Fruit Info: Look at him growing there. He’s almost ripe. What a lad. 12/10
